Zihin Bookmark Sync — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-06-28
Zihin Bookmark Sync ("the Extension") helps you collect bookmarks you have
already saved on sites you use (e.g. X, LinkedIn, Reddit, Instagram) and
sync them into your own Zihin account at
zihin.engineer.
What the Extension accesses
- Pages you actively view on supported sites. When you start a sync, the Extension reads the bookmark data those pages load through your own logged-in session — the same items you already see on screen — by observing the network responses the site returns to your browser.
- The bookmark content: post text, author, links, media URLs, timestamps, and the bookmark's URL.
The Extension does not read or transmit your passwords, does not access sites other than the supported sources and your Zihin app, and does not run in the background — capture happens only while you explicitly run a sync.
What is stored, and where
- Captured bookmarks are stored locally in your browser until you sync them.
- On sync, they are sent over HTTPS to your Zihin account and are not shared with other users.
- No data is sold. No third-party advertising or analytics SDKs. No data is sent anywhere except the Zihin backend you are signed into.
Permissions and why
storage — hold captured bookmarks locally before sync.
tabs / scripting — open the supported site's page and run the in-page capture script when you start a sync.
bookmarks — optional import of your browser's own bookmarks, only when you choose it.
- Host access to supported sites + your Zihin app — read the bookmark data those sites return to your session and deliver it to your Zihin account.
Data retention and deletion
- Local data clears when you clear it, uninstall the Extension, or clear browser data.
- Synced bookmarks are managed in your Zihin account; account deletion removes all associated data.
