There is a search bar now. Most guides still say there isn't, because it only arrived in late 2024. Here's where it is, what it's genuinely good at, and the three kinds of search it will never do for you.
Where the search bar is
Open x.com/i/bookmarks on desktop, or tap your profile picture and choose Bookmarks on iOS.
The search field sits at the top of the Bookmarks page.
Type a word you remember from the post itself.
It's free on every account. This is not a Premium feature, unlike bookmark folders, and people conflate the two constantly.
If you're on Android, you don't have it
The search bar shipped on web and iOS and still hasn't reached the Android app. You're not missing a setting. Open x.com in Chrome on your phone and go to your bookmarks there — the mobile web version has the search field the app lacks.
What it can't find
The search matches the literal text of saved posts. That's a real limit, not a nitpick, and it shows up in three ordinary situations.
You remember the idea, not the words. Searching "that thread about hiring engineers" finds nothing unless the post literally said "hiring engineers". Most of what you save, you remember by meaning.
The post was deleted. Search reads live posts. When the author deletes theirs or the account goes, the bookmark stops existing and no query brings it back — see why bookmarks disappear.
The content was in an image or video. A screenshot of a chart, a slide, a whiteboard — the words you'd search for were never text on X in the first place.
There's also the ceiling underneath all of it: the bookmarks timeline stops paginating a few hundred entries deep, which is its own problem.
Searching by meaning instead
The three gaps above have one shape in common: they need the saves indexed somewhere that keeps a copy and understands what it says. Zihin connects to the bookmarks you already have and does exactly that:
